The band shared their excitement on Instagram, posting a heartfelt message alongside photos of their first performance and a short video interview.

“It’s been 30 years since the first time that we performed on @RockinEve !!!! We can’t wait to do it again on New Year’s Eve,” their caption read.

Bassist Robby Takac added, “Yeah we had all the kids out and stuff, and it was a lot of fun, man.”

The band also shared fond memories from their first Rockin’ Eve performance in 1996 when Dick Clark personally surprised them with a bag of Goo Goo Clusters from a supermarket.

Rzeznik recalled, “He actually stopped at a supermarket and got us a bag of Goo Goo Clusters. And brought them to us
It was amazing. It was like, ‘Holy! Dick Clark?! Wow!’”

Takac chimed in, “Yeah, that was fun, man.”

Goo Goo Dolls’ late 90s hit “Iris” continues to resonate with fans worldwide. The song landed major placements on Billboard’s 2025 Year-End Charts, including Global 200 Songs and Alternative Digital Sales.

Rzeznik recently performed “Iris” at Demi Lovato’s wedding, earning praise from her husband, Jordan Lutes, who called the moment “iconic.” Lutes described the performance as “unreal,” noting Rzeznik’s mastery of acoustic guitar even after decades in the industry.

Goo Goo Dolls’ Upcoming 2026 Tours and Performances

Beyond Rockin’ Eve, the Goo Goo Dolls are hitting the road with a Summer 2026 tour featuring Neon Trees. Kicking off on July 24 in Lincoln, California, the tour will visit cities including Boise, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Tampa and more.

Earlier in the year, the band will play in Canada with Dashboard Confessional and hold a Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Theatre.

Fans can purchase tickets via Ticketmaster or StubHub, where orders are guaranteed through the FanProtect program. T

Founded in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls have endured nearly 40 years in the music industry. Rzeznik told PEOPLE, “I don't think you can ever underestimate luck
It takes a lot of work, okay, and a lot of talent and all that kind of stuff, but I know people who are infinitely more talented than I am, and I'm just luckier than they are.”

Takac added that their longevity is rooted in mutual respect and understanding: “We love each other
Ultimately, we go have a cup of coffee and we figure it out and make it happen.”

Their upcoming Rockin’ Eve performance is not just a nod to the past but a celebration of decades of music, memories and fans who continue to support them through the years.
