Anne Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight that she spotted her blue Dior gown while doing The Devil Wears Prada 2 press, but asked the designer if she could save it for The Odyssey because she thought it would suit her growing baby bump

The actress wowed in the strapless number at The Odyssey’s world premiere in London

Hathaway announced her third pregnancy in an Instagram video shared on June 19

Anne Hathaway has long been planning her maternity wardrobe.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of The Odyssey in London on Monday, July 6, the actress, 43, said she originally spotted her blue Dior gown months ago.

“I saw this dress, actually, when I was looking for some options for The Devil Wears Prada 2 press,” Hathaway recalled. “And I fell in love with it ... This is a Jonathan Anderson for Dior.”

The star continued, “And I said, ‘If it’s alright, would you please wait for me and hold this for me? Because in a few months I think it’s going to work.’”

Hathaway is currently expecting her third baby with husband Adam Shulman. At The Odyssey premiere, she smiled as she cradled her bump in the strapless gown, wearing her long hair down and accessorizing with drop earrings. She also added another pop of color by wearing a red lip.

The actress announced her third pregnancy in an Instagram video shared on June 19. In it, she wore a flowy white dress as she walked into the frame and hugged her stomach to share her big news.

The Mother Mary actress and her husband are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.

Since the announcement, Hathaway has shown off her baby bump while out and about in New York City.

While doing press for The Odyssey on Tuesday, June 30, the actress wore a red peplum scoop-neck jumpsuit. She accessorized the look with a gold necklace and dark sunglasses.

After several articles speculated that Hathaway was wearing the ensemble backwards, she took to Instagram to poke fun at the apparent mishap. An Instagram Reel posted on Wednesday, July 1, spliced together screenshots of various articles before Hathaway appeared in another red look, saying, “I did? I did ... I did.”

Per Hathaway’s stylist, Erin Walsh, the red peplum look is from the fashion label Ashlyn New York’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. On the runway, the outfit appears with a high neck in the front, indicating that Hathaway did indeed wear it backwards during her N.Y.C. outing.

Fans commended Hathaway for owning the mistake, with many praising her for making the look her own. “Backward is the new forward ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” one fan wrote on her Instagram post.

“As long as you were comfortable it doesn’t matter!! ❤️,” another shared, while a third wrote, “THAT’S what makes you a fashion icon 👏👏👏”
