Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia posted an update on her Instagram Stories one day after explaining how she underwent emergency surgery over the weekend
The influencer, 26, rushed to the hospital after experiencing "excruciating" pain, and doctors discovered she had a giant ovarian cyst
The cyst was causing her ovary to twist, a condition called ovarian torsion, and she was bleeding heavily into her pelvic floor
Brianna "Chickenfry" LaPaglia shared an update with her social media fans after revealing she underwent emergency surgery.
On Monday, May 11, the influencer explained in a TikTok that she was rushed to the hospital over the weekend after experiencing extreme abdominal pain. Once there, doctors found that LaPaglia, 26, had a "giant" ovarian cyst that was causing other internal complications. She had an operation to remove the issue, and she was recuperating from the surgery when she recalled the crisis for her social media followers.
One day after sharing what happened, LaPaglia posted a series of Instagram Stories to check in about how she has been feeling. Unfortunately, she shared that discomfort and pain levels have not improved much.

"Today is worse than yesterday," she wrote in one Stories post on Tuesday, May 12. "I got my period, so just imagine getting your period after having surgery to untwist your ovaries."
The Plan Bri Uncut podcast host said that she "still can't sit up" on her own. Additionally, she said the "gas from the surgery" traveled up to her back and shoulders. "So now everything hurts," LaPaglia wrote. "Praying that tomorrow is my day."
In another post, she noted her motivation for keeping her followers in the loop on her condition. She emphasized how "women's health is so important and overlooked," and she urged women viewing her content to speak up for themselves if needed.
"I complained to my doctors for years about the severity of my periods and cramping and was always told it's nothing. Turns out I had tens of [cysts] on my ovaries," LaPaglia said. "Women please please advocate for yourself and trust your gut if something doesn't feel right!"

She continued to list endometriosis and ovarian cysts as two conditions "that affect millions but were barely talked about before."
As LaPaglia stated in her initial video about her medical emergency, she decided to go to the hospital after dealing with hours of "excruciating" stomach pain that led her to start "projectile vomiting." After seeing doctors, she learned that her ovarian cyst was causing her ovary to twist, a condition known as ovarian torsion.

Per the Cleveland Clinic, such twisting can cut off blood supply to an affected ovary, causing sudden and severe abdominal pain. If the torsion isn't treated with emergency care, the ovarian tissue can die and cause a patient to lose that ovary.
LaPaglia said her cyst was causing "a lot of bleeding" in her pelvic floor, which contributed to her pain. She described how her doctors diagnosed her through her multiple tests, including a "vaginal ultrasound," and how they operated on her to treat the issue.
"They went in through my belly button with a camera so they could find all the blood. They drained half a liter of blood," she said. "They showed me everything, and then they fully removed the cyst [and] made sure all my show organs were untwisted."
