Colts' Josh Downs says 'friendly transaction' led to giving No. 1 jersey to Sauce Gardner
If Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs wanted to make a good impression on his newest teammate, he's off to a strong start.
Downs is giving up his No. 1 jersey with the Colts for Indianapolis' new cornerback, Sauce Gardner.
Hours after the Colts acquired the former New York Jets cornerback in a blockbuster NFL trade deadline deal, the team announced that Gardner would continue wearing No. 1 with his new team. Downs will wear No. 2 going forward.
The third-year wideout now wears the same jersey number as his younger brother and "Downs 2 Business" podcast co-host, Caleb Downs, who is a top NFL prospect and safety for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
