More than two decades after their iconic on-screen love story, Dennis Quaid is paying tribute to his "The Parent Trap" costar Natasha Richardson.

In a March 10 interview on the "Out of Order" podcast, Quaid got emotional while talking about Richardson, who died in 2009 at age 45 after a skiing accident.

"My heart breaks every time," Quaid said after watching a clip of the pair in the 1998 film. In it, they played divorced parents Nick Parker and Elizabeth James brought back together by their identical twin daughters, both played by Lindsay Lohan.

"Natasha, she was just an incredible person," Quaid continued. "If there's anybody I'd ever want to work with again, it'd be her. She was just, you know, she was a great person besides being an amazing actor to work with."

Richardson was married to actor Liam Neeson at the time of her death, and together they had two sons, Micheal and Daniel.

"There's just something magical about her that you just forget about all this other stuff I was talking about," Quaid continued. "She's just present to you when you're working with her."

He added, "Really miss her."

Dennis Quaid calls Lindsay Lohan 'the most gifted child actor'

Lindsay Lohan stars as both twins in the remake of the film The Parent Trap. Also starring are Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson.

Quaid also lauded Lindsay Lohan's role in the film. Then a child star, Lohan played both 11-year-old twins Annie James and Hallie Parker.

"She is like the most gifted child actor that I think I've ever worked with," Quaid said. "I mean, she was 11 and I did the screen test with her and before, I thought there was two people myself."

He continued, "she just went right into this English accent — She'd never been there or anything, you know, she's a girl from New Jersey or whatever. She had the accent down and just perfect. And I thought it was two girls, even though I knew."
