It seems like everyone is posting 2016 throwbacks. Between Kylie Jenner’s pink-hair photo dump, Dua Lipa’s party pics with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan, Hailey Bieber’s PDA-packed throwbacks with Justin, and Emily Ratajkowski’s decade-past modeling shots, Instagram has been full of thigh-high boots, mesh tops, chokers, and tons of nostalgia. Jenner, perhaps, put it best when she declared “you just had to be there,” reminiscing on the days of King Kylie and the origins of Kylie Cosmetics.

But Duchess Meghan put her own softer spin on the trend, taking the opportunity to share a sweet tribute to Prince Harry and the year they fell in love.

“When 2026 feels just like 2016,” she captioned a two-swipe post, which started off with a sweet video taken by her own daughter, Princess Lilibet. In the intimate black-and-white clip, Meghan and Harry were captured dancing outside, performing a routine full of spins and dips for their four-year-old child and looking as in love as ever.

The second photo, unearthed from a whole decade ago, took things back to where that love began. The image, which sees the couple hugging while wading in water, was taken during their 2016 trip to Botswana—a five-day camping adventure that served as the royals’ third date.

Years later, in his 2023 memoir Spare, the prince revealed just how pivotal that week was for his relationship with Meghan, detailing how they were able to get to know one another away from the public eye. The duchess’ engagement ring even included a diamond from Botswana, referencing the importance of their early trip together.
