Emily in Paris actor Lucien Laviscount says he and his brother built a “warehouse” playground for his cats, Simba and Nala

Lucien Laviscount loves to lavish his cats with plenty of playspace.

The Emily in Paris actor, 33, tells PEOPLE that he and his brother built a “warehouse” where his cats Simba and Nala can indulge their “dangerous” personalities.

“My cats are all over the place,” says the star, who recently partnered with cat food company Sheba to promote 4AM Stories, a personalized bedtime story generator to help cat owners fall asleep after being awoken in the early morning hours by their hungry felines.

“They have the biggest adventure kind of warehouse, basically. It's theirs. It's a cat house,” Laviscount adds of his cats, named for two of the main characters in his favorite childhood film, The Lion King. “So they'll be climbing over everything.”

Using whatever materials are at their disposal — “whether it be an egg carton” or “cereal boxes" — Laviscount and his brother "go to town.”

"We build our own stuff,” he continues. “It's either me in the woodshed with my brother or it's literally every piece of cardboard from our house and the neighbor's house, that gets kind of pulled into our backyard.”

The Safe House star and his brother take great pride and joy in building “incredible tunnels” and “jumps” for the cats. “I hope they're happy cats because we have a great time making these little adventures for them,” he says, “I hope they enjoy them as much as we enjoy making them.”

No stranger to early morning wake-ups from hungry cats, Laviscount says Sheba’s 4AM Stories provides “a really beautiful way to not just bond with your cat, but to make something that can not be a great experience a lot more easy and manageable and enjoyable.”

Laviscount explains that after feeding their cat, cat parents can enter their cat’s name, gender, fur color and character on Sheba’s 4AM Stories site and an AI-powered program will create a sleep story starring their cat and inspired by the works of Jane Austen, Edgar Allan Poe and Lewis Carroll delivered directly to their device as a book or audio book.

“Bonding with my cats when I get home is so important. And I just wanna make the most out of whatever that time looks like,” Laviscount tells PEOPLE. He adds that the project is “so in line with who I am in the storytelling world.”

The short audio stories feature voices he says are “so soothing,” and provide an opportunity for cat parents to go on a “journey” with their felines.

As for what type of stories he might create, the actor says, “My cats are a little bit more dangerous. So I'd probably be on the danger angle.”
