A new outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, is set to open in Orlando in 2027

Universal Studios Florida’s Fast & Furious Supercharged takes its final spin today.

The ride first opened in Orlando in 2018 featuring characters and settings from the blockbuster movie franchise. A Jan 2026 press release from the park announced a planned permanent closure in 2027, but the date was later moved up. The original version, at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, opened in 2015 and closed in 2025.

While fans are saying goodbye to Supercharged, Universal is already preparing to introduce a new attraction inspired by the beloved films.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, is set to open in California this summer and in Orlando in 2027. The outdoor roller coaster will put guests in the driver’s seat of some of the movies’ most iconic cars for high-speed thrills sending them almost 17 stories in the air as they “experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting,” Universal says.

The Los Angeles Times reported in July that Universal Studios Hollywood’s version coaster is already undergoing technical rehearsals ahead of announcing a formal opening date.

On Fast & Furious Supercharged, guests navigated a queue modeled off of the family’s warehouse headquarters and garage that included iconic cars and props from the big screen. Riders would then find themselves immersed in an indoor, 3D, screen-based experience as they took on the streets of Los Angeles.

The pre-show and ride featured recorded performances from franchise veterans like Vin Diesel as Dom, Ludacris as Tej and Jordana Brewster as Mia, as well as contributions from several live actors. The experience picked up adrenaline as riders found themselves pursued by both the FBI and series antagonist Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans.

“You’re going to have memories of scenes that you’ve seen in this franchise that are going to take you back to those moments you love that made this saga what it is,” Vin Diesel said of the ride upon its 2018 opening. “You’re going to feel what it’s like to be part of the family.”

The Fast & Furious franchise is ramping up for its eleventh and final film, Fast Forever, which is slated for release in 2028. Vin Diesel also shared at the NBCUniversal Upfront presentation in May that a Fast & Furious TV series is set to hit viewers’ screens via Peacock ahead of the last movie.
