“Heated Rivalry”'s Hudson Williams and Dylan O’Brien Team Up for a 'Taut Psychological Thriller'

Dylan O'Brien and Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams have teamed up for a new movie together

Apparatus marks one of Williams' first projects since Heated Rivalry skyrocketed him to fame

O'Brien recently appeared on the big screen in Send Help

Dylan O'Brien is joining forces with Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams for a new movie.

Williams, 25, and O'Brien, 34, have been cast as the leads in Apparatus, a new thriller from Canadian writer-director Sofia Banzhaf, Deadline reported on March 27. The project is expected to begin filming in Toronto soon.

Apparatus follows "a struggling ride-share driver [named Tyler] who believes his fortunes have changed when he encounters JP, a charismatic entrepreneur" who offers lead character Tyler "a dream opportunity" that soon slips out of his grasp, according to The Express Tribune, the first outlet to report on the film. Williams will portray Tyler, with O'Brien portraying JP in the movie, described as a "taut psychological thriller."

"JP lures Tyler in with the promise of a dream opportunity, but the arrangement soon descends into a violent downward spiral, testing the protagonist’s limits," reads a logline for the movie.

Reps for Williams and O'Brien did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Heated Rivalry, which Williams costars in with Connor Storie, was renewed for a second season that is expected to begin airing in April 2027.

In the months since the show exploded in popularity, Williams has been cast in another Crave network series titled Yaga alongside The Matrix's Carrie-Anne Moss. Williams wrote in a March 11 post on Threads that he had finished filming his scenes for the show already. Deadline also reported that Williams will appear in the movies Encore and 8, which are both in post-production.

O'Brien is fresh off a performance as a wealthy, arrogant executive who gets stuck on a deserted island with an employee played by Rachel McAdams in the January survival horror-comedy Send Help. Before that, the actor most recently appeared in the 2025 movies Anniversary and Twinless.

Aside from Apparatus, O'Bren will next appear in a movie titled Being Heumann, an adaptation of disability activist Judy Heumann's memoir for Apple TV.i
