Jeff Bridges and his brother Beau are inseparable.
The Oscar-winning actor, 79, calls his older brother, 84, his “best friend” while speaking with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Minions & Monsters on Sunday, June 28.
“Beau is my best friend. When we did The Baker Boys together, we had a great experience working with Steve Kloves on that movie. It's just so much fun to play with my brother,” Jeff says.
Looking back, he adds, “We would have lunch every day and pinch ourselves about how lucky we were to be playing like that.”

In The Fabulous Baker Boys, which came out in 1989, the two Bridges starred as the eponymous brothers who hire a female singer to liven up their piano career.
The movie was written and directed by Kloves, and also starred Michelle Pfeiffer.
Jeff and Beau later worked together in 1996’s Hidden in America.
The brothers — born to actor Lloyd Bridges and Dorothy Bridges — also have a sister named Lucinda, 76, and a brother named Garrett, who died shortly after birth in 1948.

Beau previously gave insight into his family’s lifestyle in a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, saying that they “weren’t really a ‘Hollywood’ family” despite their flourishing acting careers.
“My dad was a successful actor, but I don’t think he would’ve said that about himself. And it frustrated me. But he wanted us to really live a life of service. He had friends from all walks of life. He and my mom appreciated diversity of all kinds, and that inspired us,” he said.
Jeff’s latest role is starring in the upcoming movie Minions & Monsters that continues the Minions prequel series.
The animated flick, directed by Pierre Coffin, takes place in 1920 and follows the beloved yellow creatures as they attempt to make their own monster movie. It boasts an all-star cast, including Trey Parker, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg and Zoey Deutch.

“It's so magical and so creative,” Jeff tells PEOPLE about Minions & Monsters. “Our director was so wonderful to work with and his imagination brought all these great characters in this wonderful story into being. It was just great to be a part of that.”
Minions & Monsters hits theaters on July 1.
