After nearly two decades of GTL, fist pumps, Sunday dinners, meatballs and plenty of drama, the Jersey Shore family is finally saying goodbye.

Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Deena Nicole Cortese, Angelina Pivarnick, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola are going out the way only the Jersey Shore family can: with major milestones, plenty of emotion and one last trip to the place that started it all.

The series finale of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, “40, Forever, and Farewell,” brings the roommates together for a celebration that is equal parts birthday bash, wedding day and bittersweet goodbye. At the end, the whole crew returns to Seaside Heights for one final Sunday dinner at the OG Jersey Shore house.

The finale kicks off with the roommates gathering for Ortiz-Magro’s 40th birthday party, where the crew meets his new girlfriend, Kirsten, for the first time.

“I’m definitely nervous,” Ortiz-Magro says in the previous episode recap. “I don’t want my roommates to scare her off.”

At dinner, the cast goes around the table sharing their favorite memories of Ortiz-Magro. And because this is Jersey Shore, Sorrentino, 44, can’t resist adding a little joke to the celebration.

He gets Ortiz-Magro a wedding cake for his birthday — a callback to the earlier drama surrounding Giancola’s wedding, which took place on the same day as his 40th birthday. The cake even features a tiny photo of Ortiz-Magro in a tux.

“Yeah, I think it’s the wrong day,” Ortiz-Magro jokes.

While Ortiz-Magro celebrates turning 40 with his family, Giancola, 39, is celebrating a milestone of her own.

On Ortiz-Magro’s actual birthday, Giancola marries Justin May. The boys (DelVecchio, 46, Sorrentino, Guadagnino, 38, and Ortiz-Magro) first head out for breakfast to celebrate Ortiz-Magro before making their way to the wedding, while Ortiz-Magro later celebrates his birthday at Pas-Tina’s with his family and Kirsten.

Meanwhile, the girls (Polizzi, 38, Farley, 41, and Cortese, 39) are getting ready for the wedding — although, naturally, not without a little last-minute chaos. Pivarnick, 40, is late once again, and she has plenty of emotions to work through before she can make it down the aisle for Giancola’s big day.

The wedding venue, Park Chateau, is particularly complicated for Pivarnick. It’s the same place where she married her ex-husband Chris Larangeira in 2019 before their divorce was finalized in 2022. Although Pivarnick had given Giancola her blessing to get married there, the memories come rushing back on the big day.

“I’ve been invited to a few weddings at Park Chateau, but I declined all of them,” Pivarnick said. “But I’m only doing this because I want to be there for Sam. That’s why I said okay to this.”

Ultimately, Pivarnick makes it to the ceremony, arriving 30 minutes before it begins with her friend Dana instead of Vinny 2.0, as the pair continue to navigate their relationship drama.

And once the wedding gets underway, it’s classic Jersey Shore family business. There’s plenty of food, a speech from Sorrentino, a ‘Meatball’ dance featuring a live performance of Cupid’s Shuffle and, of course, a bouquet toss, which Pivarnick catches.

“I kind of purposely did that,” Giancola admits.

Two days later, the roommates find themselves back on the boardwalk — and this time, there’s a bittersweet reason for the trip.

“For the first time, we don’t know when the next family vacation is,” DelVecchio says. “So, before we all leave, let’s go back to where it all started.”

That means one final Sunday dinner at the original Jersey Shore house in Seaside Heights, where the roommates spent so much of their younger years getting into trouble. Over the years, viewers watched the roommates go from nights at the club and boardwalk drama to pregnancies, babies, sobriety milestones, businesses, weddings and everything in between.

“It might be cheesy, but every time we’re here, I just think of all of the memories. Like, how far we’ve come,” Polizzi says.

The roommates then write letters to their future selves, leaving them hidden inside the house to be opened whenever they all return.

“Our past is a long past, but it made us who we are today and I think it made a really great family,” Farley adds.

Sorrentino reveals the stash spot where the letters will stay, and the roommates take turns reflecting in confessionals about the show, their friendships and everything they’ve experienced together.

Then comes the final group moment. The roommates count down together before sharing one last group hug outside the OG house, recreating the kind of emotional farewell that closed out the original Jersey Shore.

“Jersey Shore forever!” they all say in unison.
