Kate Middleton attended the London premiere of Digger on September 22.

She nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction after someone stepped on her train.

The Princess of Wales quickly recovered, laughing the incident off.

Kate Middleton nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction while attending the London premiere of Digger. Luckily, the Princess of Wales managed to brush it off like a pro.

On September 22, Kate and Prince William greeted the film’s star, Tom Cruise, before enjoying a screening of his new film. As William and Kate walked into the theater, they were accompanied by Claire Tavernier, chair of The Film and TV Charity. Tavernier accidentally stepped on the train of Kate’s purple Jenny Packham gown, as seen in a YouTube video posted on The Royal Family Channel.

While Kate’s balance was briefly thrown off, she managed to recover quickly. Tavernier apologized, with the Princess of Wales bursting into laughter as they all entered the theater.

Kate’s billowing gown featured long sleeves and a plunging neckline. She accessorized with two noteworthy pieces from the royal family’s jewelry collection: Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl earrings and the Queen Mother’s amethyst necklace.

Worth approximately $66,000, the stunning collar is 103 years old, and its heart-shaped pendant is flanked by pearls and diamonds. It was given to Queen Elizabeth’s mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, as wedding gift in 1923.

Prior to Tuesday night, the sautoir hadn’t been seen in public since 2012, when Queen Camilla, then the Duchess of Cornwall, brought it out for a red carpet appearance at the Skyfall world premiere. Camilla paired the statement necklace with an off-the-shoulder velvet gown as she posed with King Charles at the star-studded Royal Albert Hall event.

As for Diana’s earrings, the late princess famously wore them for her wedding to then-Prince Charles in 1981. They’ve since become a regular part of Kate’s jewelry rotation. She first sported the set in 2017 at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace, and more recently, they were spotted on her ears during the National Service of Remembrance in November 2025.
