Bob Saget died suddenly at age 65 in January 2022
His widow, Kelly Rizzo, recently discovered a grief journal she kept in the weeks after his death and shared reflections on the May 13 episode of her podcast
Among the revelations is her final memory with Saget, and she shared why they didn't kiss when they said goodbye
As Bob Saget's would-be 70th birthday approaches, Kelly Rizzo is reflecting on their final moments together.
On the Wednesday, May 13 episode of her podcast, Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo, Saget's widow read excerpts from the grief journal she kept after the comedian's sudden death in 2022.
"I found my grief journal. I had no idea that I even did this, because I wrote in this less than a month after Bob passed away," Rizzo, 46, said. "And to be honest, I was still in such a fog that I didn't even remember writing in this."
After discovering the journal, Rizzo "started going through it, and even though it's pretty sparse," it's brought back some forgotten memories of Saget. "Hopefully, some of this can help anyone else who's grieving, anyone else who's processing, anyone else who wants to see the distance that can come in, for me, it's been a four-and-a-half-year period."

Among the entries is Rizzo's last memory with Saget, who was 65 when he died. "I didn't remember this until I just saw this [entry]. We watched Tick, Tick... Boom! together. We raved about how amazing Andrew Garfield was. We ate Sugarfish."

Saget then left for the airport, as he had a slate of upcoming comedy shows, "and I told him how much I loved him, but we didn't kiss."
"I wish so badly we would have [kissed]," Rizzo said. At the time, Saget was "just getting over COVID, and I had COVID, and he was going on his work trip, and so I certainly was like, I don't want to get him sick again."
"So we didn't give each other a goodbye kiss, which makes me very sad now," she said. "But now at least I remember what our last memory was."

Two years after Saget's death, Rizzo went public with a new relationship with actor Breckin Meyer.
Meyer, she told E! News, has been "so supportive" amid her continued grief. "Since day one, that's just been such a big thing with him. He knew what I went through, and he appreciated it and accepted it — and always likes to talk about Bob," Rizzo said.
"It's never like, 'Oh, I don't wanna mention Bob. I don't want Breckin to feel bad about that.' He's just always been so kind about it. It's been really special. It's really nice that I've been able to move forward with him."
