Jeff Bezos' wife, Lauren Sanchez, appeared at President Donald Trump's White House state dinner honoring China's President Xi Jinping wearing a glittering outfit that maintained a timeless aesthetic.

Lauren, 56, arrived at the prestigious event on Thursday, September 24, dressed in a black vintage Alexander McQueen gown, featuring an off-the-shoulder design and a deep neckline that showcased her substantial diamond necklace. Her accessories appeared to feature a tennis necklace made from large emerald-cut diamonds, complete with an emerald-cut pendant diamond suspended from the center.

Complementing her extravagant necklace, Lauren also donned diamond drop earrings. Her accessories enhanced Lauren's relatively understated black, form-fitting dress, though this wasn't sufficient to shield her from social media backlash regarding her state dinner attire, which numerous critics condemned. Continuing the backlash against Lauren's dress, another person wrote, "Have some dignity for goodness sake. This is a state dinner, and you are 56 years old." A third person argued, "Her diamond could feed a lot of starving children."

While Lauren opted for a gown, First Lady Melania Trump, also 56, took a notably more relaxed approach, choosing pants and a blouse for Thursday evening's dinner.

Despite pairing black high-waisted Dolce and Gabbana pants with a Saint Laurent white bow-neck blouse, the former model faced significant online backlash for her less formal wardrobe choice.

"Melania needs a new wardrobe designer. She looked like she was going to a funeral in one shot then in another that big bow is just ridiculous and pants? COME ON YOU HAVE A DUTY TO LOOK RESPECTABLE AND FASHIONABLE NOT LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A FAIRY TALE," one user raged on X.

Although Melania's fashion choices frequently draw harsh scrutiny, her San Diego-based stylist and image consultant, Cynthia Kennedy, previously revealed to the Daily Mail that she deliberately selects outfits to portray the First Lady as "independent" and "rebellious."

Speaking to the news outlet in April about Melania, Cynthia noted that she was "wearing what SHE wants, from her favorite designers - mostly European luxury brands like Dolce and Gabbana - and she's making it clear that this job is something she's doing on her own terms. What she's doing may not necessarily be modern, but it is strategic."

Cynthia further remarked, "She's not doing what people expect. She's not wearing safe, dull, traditional First Lady fashion."

It comes after Melania humiliated Donald with three brutal words.
