- LeAnn Rimes shared that she and husband Eddie Cibrian are dealing with a parent in rehab after a stroke.
- "Watching someone you love carry so much while you're barely able to carry yourself is its own kind of heartbreak," the singer wrote.
- Rimes also apologized to fans for postponing concerts due to her own illness, sharing that she is prioritizing her health after years of pushing through performances.
Not long after sharing a cryptic anniversary post and postponing a set of performances "due to severe illness," LeAnn Rimes has revealed she is going through it.
Nearly a month after Rimes told her Instagram followers that her 15th wedding anniversary with husband Eddie Cibrian was "filled with tears and worry" amid some "very tense, heart wrenching things happening at home with family," the singer expanded on what she meant in a lengthy post shared to her Substack blog.
"I am f---ing raw," Rimes 43, wrote in the post published on Tuesday. "My throat, my esophagus, my heart... hell, I even have a blister on my heel. Oh, and I'm on my period, too. When it rains, it pours."
She continued: "I feel like life has stripped me down and stripped everything back for the moment. This whole illness has been incredibly humbling. One minute you're moving through your routines, checking boxes, handling what's next... and the next, your body simply says, 'No more.' No powering through... no performing.... no pretending you're fine .... just rawness."

On top of her own illness, Rimes shared that she and Cibrian, 52, "have a parent in rehab after going through a stroke a few weeks ago."
"So the heaviness in our hearts around that has been hard, too," she wrote. "Eddie and I are both only children, which means a lot has fallen onto my sweet husband's shoulders. Watching someone you love carry so much while you're barely able to carry yourself is its own kind of heartbreak."
While she didn't share whose parent was seeking help, Rimes praised Cibrian for remaining strong, adding that watching "your loved ones hurt while you're hurting yourself is just… a lot."
She also shared that "the helplessness, the vulnerability, the uncertainty" are among the "hardest parts" of the experience.

Rimes went on to say that she's "three days away" from her next performance, but her voice is still healing. She shared that her doctor has advised her to take more time off, which made her anxious while deciding how to handle her tour schedule.
"For someone whose voice has been her life, her outlet, her safety net, that kind of uncertainty feels terrifying," she wrote, although she did not reveal the exact nature of her illness. "For over 30 years, one of the toughest decisions and hardest inner battles I've faced every time I get sick and have shows scheduled is deciding whether to cancel/reschedule or perform, when I know good and well that performing while still half sick is not in my best interest in the long run. For years, I've overridden my body and mind, performing at times when I knew I shouldn't, out of fear of disappointing my fans, who mean so much to me."
However, now Rimes wrote that she has gotten "clarity about what's important," and has chosen to prioritize her health. "My health has to come first or I risk possible, real injury by singing on swollen and irritated tissue," Rimes wrote, noting she's taking it day by day.

"If you were supposed to be at one of these shows over the past 3 weeks, please know that making the decision to reschedule was not easy for me," she explained. "Every fiber of me wants to push through, show up and sing anyway. But at 43, I know that honoring my body instead of overriding it is the wiser choice... for my voice, my health and ultimately for all of you too."
She added, "Sometimes showing up doesn't mean pushing harder. Sometimes it means listening when your body says 'enough.' So for now, i'm healing, feeling everything, letting myself be human. and, let me tell you… that little 13 year old version of me is jumping for joy, knowing that this 43 year old version is putting her first this time around."
