If Melissa Peterman has her way, Reba McEntire can check one important item off her wedding planning to-do list.

While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at the 37th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, Peterman volunteered to make her friend and former Reba costar's wedding cake.

"I will bake her wedding cake. I got to start because that's going to be a lot. I would make her wedding cake. Yes, I will make your wedding cake, Reba McEntire," the actress, 54, said.

She already has some flavor and design ideas in mind.

"And I will do a banana pudding, Nilla Wafer. I'll make a bride and groom on the top out of Nilla Wafers, which she'll love," Peterman added. "I will do it. I'm in!"

McEntire, 70, is engaged to her Happy's Place costar Rex Linn. In the NBC sitcom, the country music star plays a woman named Bobbie, who inherits half of a Knoxville, Tenn., bar founded by her father following his death. Peterman plays Gabby, a bartender at the establishment.

The Baby Daddy alum opened up to PEOPLE about her struggles finding the perfect gift for McEntire as she contemplated what to get her for the wedding, explaining, "What do you buy somebody who has so much? Also, those things don't impress her. Things that are thoughtful impress her."

Seeking something heartfelt, Peterman said she has crafted homemade gifts for her friend, including candles and a pillow featuring a picture of Linn's late dog.

She also baked cakes for McEntire and Linn, 69, on their respective birthdays.

"I made her a banana pudding cake. And then for Rex's, I made a strawberry shortcake," Peterman said. "So I try to do things that are from the heart. But I'll be honest, she's really — I feel bad even saying — she's horrible to buy it for. I stress buying for her. But really, she's simple in the way that something that's from your heart she will love."

Back in November, Peterman shared her excitement about McEntire's upcoming wedding — and revealed the role she wants to play in the proceedings.

"Well, I have officiated four weddings now," she told PEOPLE at The Paley Center for Media's Paley Honors Gala on Nov. 10. "I've done two of my TV sons from Baby Daddy, and my TV husband and my niece. I feel like I’ve got a good track record. They're all still together. So I'm hoping to officiate."

She said at the time that she had already floated the idea to McEntire and Linn.

"I would sing, which would be very intimidating to sing at her wedding," Peterman said. "But no, actually, I just want to go and celebrate. Have fun. Any capacity, any capacity, any and all. I'm ready to serve whatever she needs."

Linn popped the question to McEntire on Christmas Eve in 2024, but news of their engagement didn't break until September 2025. Peterman told PEOPLE that she "knew pretty quickly" about the private proposal and said it was a difficult secret to keep all those months.

"Yes, especially when it's a joyous secret… one that’s full of joy," she said, adding of McEntire: "I just have never seen her happier, more at ease, more comfortable. It's lovely to watch."
