A military plane reportedly carrying more than 100 troops crashed during takeoff in Colombia on Monday, March 23, officials in the South American country said.
"Military units are already at the scene. However, the number of victims and the causes of the accident have not yet been precisely determined," the country's Defense Minister, Pedro Sánchez, posted on X.
The crash involved a Lockheed Martin Hercules C-130 plane, authorities said, and took place in Puerto Leguízamo, a town in the country's southwest region that borders Peru.

It was not immediately known where the plane was headed.
"All care protocols for the victims and their families have been activated, as well as the corresponding investigation," the minister wrote, asking people to pray for all involved. "I express my most sincere condolences to the families of those affected."
This is a developing story.
