LONDON — Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni admitted he made the wrong choice as the Jacksonville Jaguars produced a stunning comeback and clinched a walkoff victory.
Sirianni told his kicker to give the Jaguars a chance at returning the ball, but they responded with a 53-yard run before getting them in field goal range to steal the win dramatically. The Eagles celebrated like they had won the game after Jalen Hurts — who was full of praise for his offensive line — got them in field goal range, with kicker Jake Elliott nailing a 48-yard kick with eight seconds remaining.
From this point, all the Eagles needed to do was not allow the returner to get into field goal range. But with a timeout available, Jacksonville would have had enough time to get one play off had the Eagles decided to kick it out of bounds. It comes after two players were ejected during the opening play.

The Eagles chose to trust their special teams, who failed to make the tackle on Ameer Abdullah. He ran 53 yards while setting up Cam Little with a 57-yard kick with one second left — making the kick to send Jaguars fans into pandemonium.
Sirianni's decision not to trust his defense came back to bite him, as he chose not to rely on players like Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Riq Woolen.

Speaking on the call, the head coach admitted he made a mistake. Sirianni said, "You know, I didn't make the right decision, and I lost us that game. And that's what I said to our guys.

"And what hurts there is that, you know, the guys fought so hard, and I don't make the decision that I should make at the end of the game. I cost us that game. I put that fully on me."
He continued, "At the end of the day, I didn't make the right decision, and it cost us the game. You know, and so there's no other way around it.
"There's nothing really else to say about that. It's just, you know, I didn't do my job good enough in that situation."
It's a brutal loss for the Eagles, who have now dropped three straight games, with pressure growing on Sirianni.
Despite winning a Super Bowl two years ago, the team has sustained major losses to its roster, with Lane Johnson retiring this week and Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith sidelined with injuries. Things went from bad to worse on Sunday in London.
Philadelphia lost third-string running back Will Shipley, forcing them to rely heavily on Dameon Pierce. Linebacker Jalyx Hunt also suffered an injury at the end of the first half.
The Eagles face the Carolina Panthers next week before an NFC East showdown against their rival, the Dallas Cowboys.
