A high-stakes holiday dilemma is looming over the royal household. According to the latest report by The Blast, Prince William might skip the Royal Family’s Sandringham Christmas gathering if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get an invitation.

This tension comes after Harry and Markle moved back to the United Kingdom after living in California with their children for six years.

Prince William Unwilling to Put Aside Their Differences

According to Closer, having Harry back seems to have intensified the rift rather than mending it. Sources close to the family have revealed that Prince William has no intention of letting go of their old issues just because his brother is living nearby again.

The Prince of Wales was reportedly taken aback by the media presence during Harry’s return. Furthermore, William has no desire to put on a polite front for the cameras.

Talking about his past attempts to keep the peace, an insider disclosed that Prince William found previous public reunions exhausting.

Specifically, the source pointed to the “terribly painful” joint public walkabout that William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan conducted following Queen Elizabeth II’s demise in 2022, describing it as an intensely difficult experience.

“He says he’s tried forcing himself to make nice before, and it was unbearable,” the source revealed.

For William, the relationship is damaged beyond repair. In past years, the brothers were apart, but now, Harry’s return has made avoiding each other even more challenging.

Prince William Would ‘Rather Spend Christmas Alone Than Face Those Two’

This deep rift could disrupt the royals’ long-standing holiday traditions. Sandringham has long been the backdrop for the royal family’s annual December reunion, but William is reportedly willing to break tradition to protect his peace of mind.

“He’d rather spend Christmas alone than face those two across the table,” the source stated.

Rather than going through an awkward dinner, William is taking a firm position and effectively forcing a decision regarding the guest list. This decision has created a difficult situation for King Charles, who is eager to keep Harry, Meghan, and his grandchildren involved in family events despite their decision to step back from official royal duties.

While skipping Sandringham would be unprecedented, William and Kate have occasionally celebrated the holidays away from the family in previous years.

Insiders emphasized that William’s intention is not to cause distress for his father during his health struggles. Instead, he views his absence as a way to prevent a tense atmosphere for everyone involved.

Meanwhile, King Charles is more inclined toward reconciliation after recently hosting Harry, Meghan, and their children at Highgrove House. However, as the Sussexes are re-establishing their presence in the UK, the pressure on the royal household is continuing to build.

Insiders noted that William and Kate are extremely guarded, citing a heavy breach of trust. Commenting on the complex dynamic, royal author Robert Jobson said, “The prodigal son coming back will be difficult for him. Harry’s move puts pressure on him to act in a more pragmatic way.”
