Rep. Jasmine Crockett isn't letting Vice President JD Vance get away with what she called racist criticism of her.

During a Tuesday morning appearance on *The View*, the Texas politician addressed recent remarks Vance made about her at a Turning Point event in December, where the crowd of conservatives booed her name as soon as the vice president spoke it on stage.

"The record speaks for itself. She wants to be a senator, though her street girl persona is about as real as her nails," Vance told the audience at the time.

On *The View,* panelist Joy Behar used the moment to tell Rep. Crockett that she is clearly a "trigger" for conservatives, and asked her to respond to Vance's words.

"First of all, my nails are real," Rep. Crockett said, later adding that "Republicans are a lot better at doing focus groups" to get a sense of their base's feelings on specific topics and candidates.

She speculated that "what disturbs them is that I am able to get at a demographic that Democrats have been losing" for a long time.

"Those that don't have a college degree, by over 70 percent, choose me. That's a demographic we've been losing," she said. "So now he's like, it's all fake, don't believe that. The reality is, I was a criminal defense attorney, I was a public defender, I am somebody who walked into plenty of jails and dealt with real killers. So, let me be clear, I understand what happens in the streets, but I don't have to quote-unquote be a 'street girl.'"

Behar cut in to ask, "Don't you think that that's racist?" which prompted Rep. Crockett — who recently launched a Senate bid — to turn toward the 83-year-old as she spoke.

"Joy, you know it's racist," Rep. Crockett said. "We know that."

She finished the thought by speculating that Republicans — particularly those who support Vance and Donald Trump — are now attempting to "divide minorities about who Jasmine is" because of what she said was strong support for her among minority groups.
