The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City production on season 7 has been paused following the death of Mary M. Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr.
Season 7 of the Bravo series had been scheduled to begin filming this week in Utah, but production was halted after the devastating news, PEOPLE has learned.
Mary starred last season alongside Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Bronwyn Newport, Whitney Rose and Angie Katsanevas. Britani Bateman also appeared as a "friend" of the cast.
Mary appeared on season 1 and 2 of the Bravo franchise. She later appeared as a "friend" on season 4 before returning as a full time member the following season.

Robert Jr. died on Monday, Feb. 23 at the age of 23 in Utah. The Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed the death to PEOPLE, saying authorities responded to a possible overdose after receiving a call regarding a “full arrest/medical emergency” of a 23-year-old male.
The spokesperson said that the SLCPD "responded to an overdose investigation that turned into a death investigation."

Real Housewives executive producer and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen, 57, reacted shortly after learning of Robert Jr.’s death, writing on Threads, “Devastatingly sad news out of SLC. This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr.”

Mary, 53, and Robert Cosby Sr. shared a statement with PEOPLE following the death of their son.
"Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace," the statement read. "We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow."
Moments later, the couple shared the their words on social media, where it was met with support from followers and members of the extended Bravo community.

Robert Jr., who had been released from Salt Lake County Metro Jail on Tuesday, Feb. 3 after serving two months behind bars, was the subject of Mary's most recent Instagram post.
She shared a photo of him on Feb. 7, writing alongside it, "#godfirst Love you all🙏❤️ My Beautiful Son.. I love him sm❤️🙏."Robert Jr.’s struggles with addiction were documented on the hit reality show. In an emotional season 5 conversation with his mother that aired in Nov. 2024, he said he began using both prescription and recreational drugs at 16 after trying Xanax at a party.He said he later abused multiple prescription medications, including Adderall and OxyContin, sometimes taking up to 10 pills at once. “I couldn’t even feel it,” he recalled. “I couldn’t feel it at all.”
