According to Elle, Gomez became a godmother to her cousin Priscilla Cosme's daughter, Aubriella Marie Cosme, in 2020.
In September 2024, Gomez shared an Instagram Stories clip of her tiny relative cheering her on at the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, where she was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
“Tia, tia,” Aubriella yelled as she jumped for joy while watching the Emmys on TV.

And while Jean Smart won the Emmy in Gomez's category for her role in Hacks, the actress was able to draw some consolation from the footage.
“My goddaughter made my night … I’m also Tia by the way,” Gomez wrote in her caption (Tia means "Aunt" in Spanish).
Although Gomez doesn't have any kids of her own, she has stated in the past that she'd like to start a family with her husband, Benny Blanco. In a March episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast, the couple shared that they can't wait to have their own family.
"I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children," Gomez said. "I love making [children] laugh; they're just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”
Blanco chimed in to add that when Gomez sees children, she will “immediately go to the kids and has these conversations for hours with the kids.”
"When you started doing this you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people and I feel like you still feel like you have that obligation to connect with young kids," he pointed out. "You shaped so many young people’s lives, whether it was Barney, Wizards [of Waverly Place]... you’re still finding your way to do that."
