- Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick had her *Survivor 50* torch snuffed after Rick Devens survived a MrBeast-branded coin flip and explains how Cirie helped talk her out of going for the coin flip herself.
- Stephenie reacts to her allies, Jonathan and Joe, voting her out.
- The ousted player also reveals what we didn't see on TV, including a warning to Cirie and Ozzy
It was a rough Tribal Council for Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick on this week’s episode of *Survivor 50**.* But even after Rick Devens started spilling secrets and blowing up Stephenie’s game, she still appeared poised to make it through the night. Then MrBeast showed up with his briefcase and everything changed. Rick volunteered to flip the coin that would either continue or end his game, and when he called it correctly, Stephenie’s game was sunk. She was unanimously voted out, so even her Steal-a-Vote could not save her.
How does Stephenie feel about the MrBeast twist? Did she even consider volunteering for the coin flip herself? Was she surprised Jonathan Young and Joe Hunter abandoned her in the end? And what was going on with her and Cirie Fields out there? We connected with juror number five to ask all that and more, and you can now watch or read the full interview below.
**: What do you think happens if there’s no MrBeast and there’s just a regular vote at last night’s Tribal Council? Who goes to the jury?**
**STEPHENIE LAGROSSA KENDRICK: **So, it was a mess. It was a mess back at camp. There was a lot that wasn't seen, but at the end of the day, we all came back together. There were lots of conversations had, and it was supposed to be Devens. In my mind. [Laughs]
**No, I’ve poked around, and that seems to be the case, that he would've gone to the jury, had it been a regular Tribal Council. So once he goes and he plays that coin and it rolls around on the set seemingly forever and it turns on heads and he's safe, did you feel like you were in trouble?**
Yes, but we had a backup plan. If it wasn't Devens, it was gonna be Aubry. And Devens knew he was in trouble, and that's why he did his whole spiel, and then, of course, followed by a pitch. That's why Aubry actually leans over and says, "I don't really want Devans to do it,” because if he becomes safe, she knew she was the next target.

**Was there ever a thought of also volunteering to do the coin flip, knowing that if he was safe, then you might be in trouble?**
Yeah, I actually went over and spoke to Jonathan and my trusted advisor Cirie and said, "Should I, you know, flip the coin? Do you guys think I should flip the coin?" And Cirie was like, "Do you want to? " And I was like, "I don't know. Should I? " And she goes, "I don't think so. I think you're fine."
And I said, "Jonathan, what do you think? " And Jonathan's like, "No, I mean, let Devens do it. It's a fifty-fifty chance.” Really? Like, that was a ballsy move, and I really kind of wanted to, but then I would've had to fight Devens for it. We probably would've had to have a wrestling match at Tribal or an arm wrestling match. And the backup was Aubry. So, in my mind, even though the edit didn't really look like that, because a lot of people are like, "Why didn't you flip the coin?" I'm like, "I wanted to!” But, you know, you're taking a big risk.
So there were a lot of conversations. There was a lot of live Tribal before that, after that, during that, there was a lot going on they didn't show. So I definitely thought it was gonna be Devens, and if it wasn't Devens, the next plan was Aubry, as it's been for the past three weeks.

**What did Joe and Jonathan tell you they were going to do during that live Tribal after Rick was safe?**
They're both saying, "It's Aubry." And you see Jonathan talking and saying, "It's Aubry." Now, Joe, on the other hand, I learned last night was the one that went and told Cirie. It was really Jonathan's plan. Jonathan came to me on the beach, and I said, "I don't think we have the numbers to get Ozzy out.” You didn't see any of that. I said, "If you can get the numbers, I will consider it, but I don't think so."
So then we will go together to Aubry and Devens. Jonathan pitches them. I do not. And they're all about it. Then he goes to his trusted advisor Joe, and then Joe goes and immediately tells Cirie. Joe is the problem.

**So I have two questions about that. Was Joe telling Cirie about the plan to vote out Ozzy an attempt to get her on board, or a warning because he did not want Ozzy going home?**
I think it was an attempt to get her on board, even though we already told Joe that Ozzy and Cirie are like this [crosses fingers]. If we're gonna do this, they cannot know about it.
I'm not really sure what Joe is doing in this game right now because I saw two weeks ago that Joe knew it was Devens and Aubry yet again, and he goes and talks to Cirie, and Cirie actually tells him, "No, it has to be Coach and Chrissy. This is our chance, Joe." And Joe's like, "No, I want it to be Devens. I don't trust him." And she's like, "No, this is a gift, Joe. We can kill two birds with one stone right now and take them out."
Why doesn't Joe think to come immediately to at least Jonathan, who is supposed to be his number one out there? I don't know what game Joe is playing, but it's not a very smart one. If you are in an alliance with Jonathan — forget about me — if you're in an alliance with Jonathan, why are you not relaying this message? Because we would've known back then: *I guess Cirie's not with us.*
Because at this point, I at least think Cirie's with me. Because what you're not seeing is she's saying to me, "You're like family to me, you're like a sister to me. I gotta let you know the plan changed. It's now Coach and Chrissy. I don't want you to be on the outs." I'm like, "Oh, thanks. Thanks for telling me. We can flip it back. “She's like, "Don't be the one on the wrong side of the numbers, Steph. Don't be ... "
And she's saying all this stuff to me. Then she says to me walking to Tribal Council this week, "Girl, we can't be fighting. We gotta be on the same page. We're like sisters, we're like family." And I'm like, "No one's fighting." It was an idea. Somebody came to me, Ozzy's name came up, he has an idol. I don't want it to be Ozzy. I want it to be Devens. That's been the plan for weeks now.”
And she's like, "Okay, it's definitely Devens." I'm like, "And if Devens is safe…” and she's like, “Definitely Aubry." So Cirie is feeding me the lines. Like Cirie’s very good at the emotional manipulation. She knows what she's doing, and I'm buying it hook, line, and sinker because I'm giving her my 1000% loyalty. I'm hopeful she's giving it back to me.

**This gets to how good she is. Because we know the dynamic going into the game ****from my cover story**** that Cirie was very wary of you, completely unbeknownst to you.**
I don't understand why.
**But it sounds like what you're saying is that even though she came into the game wary of you, you weren't picking up on that on the island at all.**
No, we spoke before the game. And we spoke about the rumors going on that I'm gonna try to take her out and this and that. And I'm like, “Cirie, you have my word.” And Cirie knows, I cannot lie — to her especially. She knows me. I can lie to other people that don't really know me, but her, I'm gonna tell you the truth.
So if I'm telling you before the game, “I am not gonna be gunning for you.” And she and I said, "Let's just get there. Let's just get to the endgame. And then obviously, if I have to choose myself over you, fine, but let's just get there." I was never going to target her. We spoke about it before the game. She said, "I heard the rumor. I'm not worried about the rumor.” If the person that started the rumor really is concerned, they could call me. She goes, "I'm with you. We are like family." And I said, "Cirie, you have my word." And she knew it.
And we don't have a chance to talk till day 13 out there. So by the time we talk, she's already gone on to another plan. She never intended to be with me. Never once. I'm still going with the fact that I'm gonna be loyal to her and loyal to the people I said I'd be loyal with. Also, you know, I was in with Christian. I was open to meeting new people as well. It wasn't like old school do or die. But I don't think Cirie ever intended on being with me ever. And that's my fault yet again for just being loyal and true.

**Speaking of being loyal and true, Jonathan and Joe voted you out. Were you surprised by that when you saw the vote?**
Joe, when I told him about the Steal-a-Vote, he couldn't even look at me. It went right over his head. He was like a child that was so mad that I didn't tell him sooner.
Like, he could not deal with that. So Joe was out. To Jonathan, I'm like, "Listen, I have a Steal-a-Vote. I wanted to tell you sooner. Cirie called me out on it. She's known for a while. She told me not to tell any of you because everybody knows about every idol. So I kept it a secret.” And he goes, "Okay." Like Jonathan wasn't even phased. He's like, "All right, let's use it.”
So no, it didn't surprise me about Joe. In fact, Joe, after Jeff brings the urn over, and Joe — who’s telling me, "You're good, you're good the whole time" — before he reads the votes, he goes, "It's you." I go, "What?" He goes, "It's you. " I go, "Oh, thanks a lot." He's like, "I love you." I'm like, "Yeah, go F…" I said some profanity to him. I was like, "Whatever."
And then another thing that they didn't show was I went over to Ozzy, and I said, "Listen, your name did come up because I was told that you're telling people you don't trust me. " And he owned it. He said, “I did say that and I wanted to see if it would get back to you." And I'm like, "Why do you not trust me?"
Last week, he was so worried, he was gonna play his idol. He's like, "Should I play it? Should I play it?" And I'm like, "No, you're good. You're good. It's not you.” I'm talking him off a ledge. He's telling me, "Stephenie, listen, I trust you.” He's buttering me up. He and Cirie the whole time are buttering me up. And I wasn't sure they were fully with me, but I was like, "I'll just go with it. My name's not being brought up.” And I was never gonna bring their names up, ever. That was the truth.
When Rizo's like, “Oh, blah, blah." No, Rizo. I played this game a lot. I'm not gonna be the one throwing names out there and leading the charge because this is what happens. It turns on you. I know this game. I've been there. So I do go over to Ozzy and Cirie. I explained to Ozzy that I had no intention of bringing his name up. His name has come up because now apparently my name's come up.
I call them both out. You see me talking to Cirie about it. I'm like, "I can't even believe you would throw my name out there. What are you doing? Why would you do that? I would never.” Then I say, "If you two get rid of me, if you even think for a second about getting rid of me, mark my words, you will be next in some way, shape, or form." Cirie says, "Who are you talking to? " I said, "I'm talking to you. I promise you, I am in your best interest to keep around. Mark my words.” I cannot believe it didn't air.
I said this to her on *Heroes vs. Villains. *I said, "If you do not come with Colby, Tom, and I, and you get rid of me, you will be next." I said it to her in the water, find the footage, swear to God. I say it again. Let's see how this pans out for her and Ozzy. I am a loyal old schooler. I'm loyal to a fault. I'm not even cut out for these games because I don't lie great, you know? I'm giving you my word.

**Let’s go back a bit to when Rick blew everything up and told everyone about your Steal-a-Vote and blabbed about the people your side was targeting. What’s going through your mind when he does that?**
So obviously they're all pissed off. Somehow it got turned on me, so now I gotta do damage control. But Jonathan was the only guy I was actually trusting who was telling me the truth out there. And again, loyal to a fault, I'm not gonna throw Jonathan under the bus. I'm just not. My kids are always like, “Snitches get stitches, snitches get stitches.” And I kept hearing that in my head. And I'm like, Do not be a snitch. Try to turn this somehow back on Devens and Aubry.
Because we all circled back around at camp. They don't show it, but we're all back to, “All right. Ozzy, your name came up. Steph, your name came up. Cirie, whose name came up. Let's go back to the original plan. Devens. And if not Devens, Aubry. Can we do that? Can we all just come together, please?" So when that happens, I'm not gonna throw Jonathan under the bus now. That’s the blame game. I'm gonna throw it back on them. And I did my best to try to do that.
Tiffany is like, "Why did you tell Cirie about your Steal-a-Vote if that's the girl you're trying to get out? " I do explain, which they don't show, that I told Cirie about it weeks ago. She was the only person that knew. Not today. She's known forever. And I threw that out there because I knew Cirie was starting to throw me under the bus. So I was like, "You know what? I'm gonna throw you under the bus a little bit. You knew about this and you haven't told anybody. You're gonna have to deal with that now if I go.”
But I'm still hopeful. But that Steal-a-Vote sucked because I had to play it before they even go vote. So it's like almost not fair because now they can all be like, "Oh, she's gonna use it. Let's just all flip the vote to her." There's a lot going on. MrBeast did not help. I considered flipping the coin, but no one was gonna let me flip that coin. Definitely Devens was not gonna let me flip that coin because only one person can, you have to fight over it or we had to go to rocks. I should've forced everybody to go to rocks.

**Anything else that happened out there that didn't make it to TV that you wish we'd seen?**
People are just like, "God, how are you trusting Cirie? She gets rid of Colby. She gets rid of Coach. She gets rid of Chrissy.” I mean, she just is so good at what she does. Like, Coach called it. She's an emotional manipulator. She is saying to me every day before every Tribal Council, "You're like family to me. I'm not writing your name down unless it's for the win. You're like a Parvati to me. We're gonna go to the end."
I mean, she's saying these things to me and I'm, like, so frigging loyal. Call me stupid, whatever you want. Call her a master planner. I think she's a manipulator, but good on her. You know what I mean? Cirie is made for these games. She's cut out for this. I played the best game I could play with honor and some loyalty, trying not to be this brutal, cutthroat, pretty good example for kids everywhere.
And I didn't lose my cool. I could have lost my cool at that Tribal Council. I think I played a very calm, cool, collected game. My name never came up until the night I go home. So I did the best with the hand I was dealt. My whole alliance dropped like flies. She single-handedly took out my entire alliance, which I thought was supposed to be part of her alliance, too.

**How do you think this game is different if Coach and Chrissy don't decide to be teammates on that one immunity challenge with the paired elimination, because that kinda seemed to break your whole alliance?**
That's another thing. Had we known you were gonna get voted out together, everybody would've paired with somebody that's not necessarily with their alliance. Now, I was happy to pair with Ozzy because I knew he had an idol. But there's so much luck in this game with all these idols and with all these twists, too.
And then one last thing. I just wanna make this known. I respect Cirie’s game. This is nothing personal against Cirie at all and her gameplay. She plays a great game, a great social game. You know what I mean? I just was under the impression she and I were gonna stick together. And unfortunately, she was never under that impression, and I've learned that now. So fourth show, fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you. So we'll see how the future goes. And I do love her. I love her as a person. It’s nothing personal. It’s a game. At the end of the day, it’s a game.
