Sylvester Stallone opened up about his 29-year marriage to Jennifer Flavin.
Speaking to CBS, the actor said that he regrets not marrying the former model sooner.
“I was like such an idiot, procrastinating,” he admitted.
Sylvester Stallone may be known for playing tough-as-nails characters in classics like Rocky, First Blood, and Rambo, but apparently, the actor isn’t shy about getting sentimental about his real life. In a new interview, the 80-year-old reflected on his 29-year marriage to former model and businesswoman Jennifer Flavin—and made a touching confession.

Speaking to Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning at 92NY on September 27, Stallone reflected on what he wishes he could “do-over” in his life, and he landed on his relationship with Flavin—but not in the way you might think.
“I wish I’d married my wife about eight years earlier,” Stallone said after a moment of reflection. “I was like such an idiot, procrastinating. Because you know, I’m still actually learning about relationships that bad.”
The pair met in 1988, and didn’t tie the knot for another nine years, eventually marrying in 1997 in London.

“So I regret that. And I’m sorry, baby,” he went on.
Stallone then explained that the delay may have resulted from feeling a lack of love from his parents when he was younger. “There is that. There is that,” he said. “So a lot of people that have these issues, it’s not your fault. You know, it’s just the way you evolve it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Stallone gushed about his 58-year-old wife, saying, “I’ll never be as good as her. She’s just magnificent, has kept me alive.”
He added, “And it took me so long to turn my head around and go, ‘Oh, you have the greatest gift in the world right here, and you’re looking out there, you fool!’”
The pair share three daughters, Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet, while Stallone also has two sons from a previous marriage to Sasha Czack.
Stallone’s relationship with Flavin hasn’t been without its bumps. The pair separated in August 2022, but reconciled just a month later.

Stallone is currently promoting his memoir The Steps, which debuted on September 29.
