One of the most charming — and quietly relatable — moments from the royal family’s Christmas Day walk this year didn’t come from a brand-new look, but from a familiar one with a history.
As the royals stepped out for their annual walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham on Thursday, Dec. 25, Lena Tindall, 7, caught the attention of royal watchers in a classic winter coat that has already made several notable appearances within the family.
Lena joined her parents, Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall, as King Charles led the Christmas Day procession alongside Queen Camilla, continuing a Sandringham tradition that dates back generations. The morning walk is one of the few occasions each year when senior royals and extended family members step out together, greeting crowds of well-wishers who line the path after the church service.

The Tindalls once again brought their trademark ease to the outing, with Lena confidently taking part in the holiday tradition. It was her coat, however, that sparked instant recognition.
The same piece was previously worn by Lena’s sister, Mia Tindall, 11, at Prince Philip’s memorial service in March 2022, a solemn occasion marking a key moment for the family. Before that, the coat made its first high-profile appearance back in 2017, when Savannah Phillips, 14, wore it during the royal family’s Christmas Day walk at Sandringham.
