James Spader’s Ultron takes a central role in the latest trailer for VisionQuest.

The Paul Bettany-led series sees the titular hero searching for answers, only to discover the existence of his son, Tommy Maximoff.

The series marks the conclusion of a trilogy that began with WandaVision and Agatha All Along.

Somehow, Ultron has returned. And Vision is letting him loose.

The voice of James Spader‘s villainous android is haunting the latest trailer of Marvel’s VisionQuest. While Paul Bettany‘s Vision grapples with the truth of his past and begins his search for answers, the villain who reigned terror on the Avengers in 2015’s Age of Ultron appears to revel in his anguish.

“That dead witch really did a number on you,” he taunts, in reference to Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) bitter end.

“Ultron, you are impossibly cruel and callous,” Vision at one point remarks.

“And yet, here I am,” Ultron snarkily replies. “Still occupying space in your mind. Rent free.”

Dubbed White Vision, this iteration of the android was first introduced in WandaVision as a weapon created by former S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg). Bettany previously told Entertainment Weekly that the series begins with Vision living in peace, on the outskirts of society. But “that all gets blown to hell when a bounty’s put on his head and he is pushed out into the world in a much more visible way,” the actor teased.

Indeed, the VisionQuest footage sees Vision absorbing bullets and fending off unidentified agents — but the exposure is just the beginning of his story. He also appears to be on the hunt for answers, revisiting footage of his history with Wanda before discovering the existence of a man identified as Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), purportedly the grown-up version of Wanda and Vision’s magically created son, Tommy.

Thus begins Vision’s quest to rescue Tommy — a journey he apparently can’t embark on without a little help from Ultron.

“Free me and save your son,” Spader’s android urges and, eventually, Vision appears to give in.

But that decision will evidently prompt some serious repercussions as Ultron ominously proclaims, “Now I’m going to finish what I started all those years ago.”

VisionQuest marks the end of a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. While the genre-bending start introduced kid versions of Wanda and Vision’s children, the latter series saw Joe Locke (Heartstopper) portray an older Billy Maximoff, whose spirit was transferred to the body of teenager Billy Kaplan after Wanda’s hex hijinks dispersed.

At the end of that spinoff, Billy joined forces with ghost Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) to find his brother, whose soul was transferred into the body of a recently drowned boy.

In addition to Spader as Ultron, the series will also see Vision confront the personification of various programs introduced in the MCU thus far, including Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H.

VisionQuest will hit Disney+ on Oct. 14.
