Spanish Olympic skateboarder Danny León pulled off a spectacularly timed stunt during Wednesday’s total solar eclipse, launching himself into the air just as the moon blocked the sun to provide the backdrop for a once-in-a-lifetime shot.
León shared footage of the jump on social media after millions of people across Spain and Europe gathered to witness the rare astronomical event, describing his perfectly timed trick as “the move of my life.”
The video shows the skateboarder soaring against the darkened Sun, with the eclipse providing a dramatic scene for the stunt.
León, one of Spain’s best-known professional skateboarders, represented his country in the men’s park competition at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. His eclipse stunt came as huge crowds gathered across the continent on Wednesday evening for the country’s first total solar eclipse in more than a century.

People packed viewing spots in cities and towns along the path of totality, bringing lawn chairs and umbrellas as they waited for the Moon to pass directly between Earth and the Sun. The eclipse was visible across a broad stretch of northern and central Spain and Portugal, while its path also crossed parts of Greenland and Iceland.
But the defining moment was landed by Leon, whose viral clip has been viewed millions of times in just 24 hours.
León had just one minute to nail the move during totality, the period during which the Moon completely obscures the Sun. Totality had lasted less than two and a half minutes at its longest point, off Iceland’s western coast, but by the time the eclipse reached Portugal and Spain shortly before sunset, the period had shortened to around a minute.
The professional managed the feat in style, timing the jump right to the second.
