*Clueless* turned 30 in July 2025, which means audiences have now enjoyed more than three decades of lusting after Cher Horowitz’s iconic wardrobe (and her closet).
Hollywood loves recycling intellectual property, so a teen movie based on a classic novel hardly seems, well, novel. But that wasn’t the case in 1995, when Amy Heckerling released her romantic comedy loosely adapted from Jane Austen’s *Emma. *Audiences were charmed by Cher (Alicia Silverstone), a sheltered Beverly Hills princess with a heart of gold, an eye for designer threads, and a penchant for meddling in other people’s love lives.
*Clueless *spoke the same language as the teens it was made for, and the film is finally being recognized for its contributions to cinema. In January 2026, the Library of Congress formally announced plans to add *Clueless *to the National Film Registry. The movie is also being reworked for a new generation, thanks to a follow-up series developing at Peacock, with Silverstone set to reprise her iconic role and executive produce alongside Heckerling.
If this is news to you, you've probably only been checking on the cast of *Clueless* sporadically. Keep reading to find out what they're up to now.**
Alicia Silverstone (Cher Horowitz)

Alicia Silverstone effortlessly embodies Cher Horowitz, a pop-culturally intelligent young woman with a deep closet and a rich vocabulary.
Silverstone's first film appearance was in the 1993 thriller *The Crush*. She also appeared in several Aerosmith music videos like “Cryin’” and “Crazy” around that time, but *Clueless *was her breakout role. Her next major movie was the 1997 superhero blockbuster *Batman & Robin*, in which she played Batgirl.
She made her Broadway debut in 2002 in a stage version of *The Graduate*. The following year, she starred on the NBC comedy-drama *Miss Match*, which won her a Golden Globe for Best Actress — Television Series Musical or Comedy. Silverstone soon advocated for plant-based eating and wrote a book about vegan nutrition, *The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet*, in 2009. This was paired with a website, The Kind Life, which is still active.
In 2012, Silverstone reunited with *Clueless* writer-director Amy Heckerling for the vampire comedy film *Vamps.* She also had a recurring role on the ABC sitcom *Suburgatory* alongside her *Clueless* castmate Jeremy Sisto. More recently, she's appeared in *The Killing of a Sacred Deer *(2017), *Bugonia* (2025), and *A Merry Little Ex-Mas* (2025).
Silverstone stepped back into her iconic yellow plaid outfit in February 2023, reprising her *Clueless *character in a Super Bowl ad for the online shopping platform Rakuten. She was joined by former* *costar Elisa Donovan as Amber, reenacting the film's debate scene.
In 2025, Silverstone announced that she and Heckerling were collaborating again on a reboot of the film for Peacock.
"The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about *Clueless* and Cher," Silverstone said during an interview on *Today*. "So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it. I'm confident that we'll be able to do that, but we're in baby stages right now."
Silverstone was married to rock musician Christopher Jarecki from 2005 to 2018. Their son, Bear, was born in 2011.
Stacey Dash (Dionne Davenport)
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/stacey-dash-clueless-watn-30-years-070225-62de3d70d4ae45d49e194db206111677.jpg)

Stacey Dash owns every hallway as Cher's bestie, Dionne, who dazzled audiences with her collection of hair accessories.
Dash started working in Hollywood in the 1980s, notably appearing in the Richard Pryor comedy *Moving* (1988). She later worked in the Damon Wayans film *Mo' Money* (1992) and the Danny DeVito movie *Renaissance Man *(1994) before landing her breakout role as Dionne. In fact, she was amazed to secure a gig portraying a teenager in *Clueless*.
"I was 27, and I was playing this high school student," Dash told EW in October 2012, "and I had a son at home who was 6 years old."
Still, she was a perfect fit for the part, going on to play Dionne for three seasons on the *Clueless *spinoff sitcom, which aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999. Outside of *Clueless*, Dash appeared in the Kanye West music video for "All Falls Down" in 2004. She later reunited with *Clueless *director Amy Heckerling in the film *I Could Never Be Your Woman* (2007). In 2014, Dash became a contributor for Fox News, a position she held until 2017.
Her relationship with Alicia Silverstone is still going strong. In 2022, they reunited in a sweet TikTok, proclaiming, "Forever Cher & Dionne BFFs."
Dash has two children: a son, Austin, and a daughter, Lola. She’s been married four times. Her most recent marriage was to lawyer Jeffrey Marty from 2018 to 2020.
Brittany Murphy (Tai Frasier)
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/brittany-murphy-clueless-watn-30-years-070225-2e4510e8bf714389bea6d90742cfe541.jpg)

Brittany Murphy played Tai, the new girl in school whom Cher takes under her wing, but she secretly falls for the wrong guy.
*Clueless* was Murphy's breakthrough film, kicking off an impressive but tragically short career. In 1997, she began voicing Hank's niece, Luanne, on the Fox animated sitcom *King of the Hill*, contributing to all 13 seasons. In 1999, she played supporting characters in the psychological drama *Girl, Interrupted* and the comedy *Drop Dead Gorgeous*.
In 2023, Alicia Silverstone fondly recalled meeting Murphy. "I always remember when she auditioned for the part," Silverstone told EW. "I just remember when she came in and did hers, because when she walked out of the room, I was like, 'You guys! Did you see that?' As if they wouldn't know. They were like, 'Yes, we saw that!'"
Murphy landed more film projects in the 2000s, including the 2001 biopic *Riding in Cars With Boys*, the 2002 drama *8 Mile*, and the 2003 rom-coms *Uptown Girls* and *Just Married*.
Murphy married Simon Monjack in 2007. She died suddenly in 2009 at age 32 due to uncertain circumstances. The official cause of death was pneumonia, with complications from anemia and intoxication from legal drugs. The following year, Monjack was also found dead at the home they used to share. Like Murphy, the coroner attributed his death to pneumonia and anemia.
Paul Rudd (Josh Lucas)

After beginning his career with TV appearances on *Sisters* and *Wild Oats, *Paul Rudd made his feature film debut in *Clueless *as Cher's "kind of a Baldwin" stepbrother, Josh — a role he almost lost after getting a buzz cut just weeks after his audition.
"I went into a restaurant and Amy Heckerling was eating there. She looked at me and froze and said, 'What did you do?! What did you do to your hair??!'" Rudd recalled during a May 2025 appearance on the *Good Hang With Amy Poehler* podcast. According to Rudd, Heckerling followed up with: "You auditioned for this part — you were maybe gonna get this part, but you can't cut your hair."
Thankfully, Rudd got the gig, which helped launch his film career. In 2002, he joined the cast of the NBC sitcom *Friends* as Phoebe's boyfriend — and eventual husband — Mike.
In the mid-2000s, Rudd began a fruitful collaboration with Judd Apatow, appearing in many of the director-producer’s films. Rudd joined the MCU in 2015, starring as the pint-sized superhero Ant-Man. So far, he's been in five Marvel movies and is set to appear in *Avengers: Doomsday* in 2026. He’s also become a fixture of the revived *Ghostbusters *franchise, with the latest film, *Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire*, premiering in March 2024.
You may have also spotted the actor on Hulu's hit mystery-comedy *Only Murders in the Building* when he joined the cast starting in season 3, or alongside Jack Black in the 2025 *Anaconda* reboot. He stars as a has-been wedding singer in *Power Ballad* (2026) with Nick Jonas.
Rudd married screenwriter and producer Julie Yaeger in 2003. They have two children, Jack and Darby.

Donald Faison "keeps it real" as Dionne's boyfriend, Murray, who irritates her by shaving his head and constantly referring to her as "woman.”
Faison didn't expect *Clueless* to be as successful as it was. "When we were making the movie, you don't think the movie's going to be good,” he told EW in 2012. “You think, 'I'm making the next *License to Drive*.' You think, 'This movie's going to be just for teenagers and that's it.'"
After the film was a hit, Faison appeared on the *Clueless* sitcom.
Faison costarred in the Denzel Washington feature *Remember the Titans* (2000) and reunited with *Clueless *costar Brittany Murphy in *Uptown Girls.*
The actor is best known for his starring role as Dr. Chris Turk in the NBC/ABC medical comedy *Scrubs*, which ran from 2001 to 2010. Following that hit series, Faison led the TV Land sitcom *The Exes* from 2011 to 2015 and NBC's *Extended Family* from 2023 to 2024. In 2026, Faison returned to Sacred Heart Hospital as part of ABC's new reboot of *Scrubs*.
Faison and Lisa Askey were married from 2001 to 2005. Together, they had three children: Kobe, Kaya, and Dade. He married his second wife, CaCee Cobb, in 2012, and they have two children, Rocco and Wilder. He also has a son, Sean, with ex-girlfriend Audrey Ince.

Donovan was another *Clueless* star who went on to appear on the spinoff series. She then moved on to the ABC sitcom *Sabrina the Teenage Witch*, playing Morgan Cavanaugh in the show's last three seasons from 2000 to 2003.
In 2009, Donovan costarred in the ABC Family TV movie *The Dog Who Saved Christmas* with Dean Cain and Mario Lopez. She soon appeared in the 2010 sequel and four more direct-to-DVD films over the next five years.
Donovan wrote a memoir in 2021 called *Wake Me When You Leave: Love and Encouragement via Dreams From the Other Side*, which is in development to be adapted into a movie.
She married Charlie Bigelow in 2012. The couple shares one daughter, Scarlett Avery Bigelow.
Breckin Meyer (Travis Birkenstock)

Breckin Meyer earns extra credit as Travis, the skateboarding burnout who wins Tai's heart.
Meyer was often recognized following his appearance in the hit movie, telling EW in 2012, "Someone came up to me once and — very serious and teary-eyed — said, ‘I just want you to know that when I saw *Clueless* and I saw Travis decide to go into a 12-step program, that’s when I decided to get sober.’ There was a part of me that was like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ And there was another part of me that was like, ‘Are you serious? Because I’m pretty sure Travis might have relapsed. But I’m happy you found that.'"
After *Clueless,* Meyer starred in the comedy films *Road Trip *(2000), *Rat Race* (2001), and *Herbie: Fully Loaded* (2005) while voicing Joseph Gribble on the animated series *King of the Hill* with *Clueless* castmate Brittany Murphy from 2000 to 2010. He also played Jon Arbuckle in two live-action *Garfield* movies (2004, 2006).
Meyer costarred with Mark-Paul Gosselaar on the TNT dramedy *Franklin & Bash* from 2011 to 2014, and he appeared in the final season of NBC's crime drama *Good Girls* (2021).
Meyer was married to screenwriter and director Deborah Kaplan from 2001 to 2014. They share two daughters, Caitlyn and Clover. In February 2024, it was confirmed that Meyer is dating influencer Kelly Rizzo, the widow of comedian Bob Saget (who died in 2022).
Jeremy Sisto (Elton Tiscia)

Jeremy Sisto gives '90s himbo energy as Elton, the most popular boy at Bronson Alcott High, who misinterprets Cher's attempts to set him up with Tai. Decades later, he's still marveling at being in *Clueless*.
“I’m just sort of honored to be a part of it," Sisto told *TV Insider* in July 2023. "I don’t even understand why it is as special as it is because when I watch it, I was there and I can’t sort of get my head around the magic of it.”
Sisto followed his *Clueless* success with parts in the crime thriller *Suicide Kings* (1997) and the indie drama *Thirteen* (2003). He also portrayed the title character on the Italian miniseries *Jesus *(1999)*.*
From 2001 to 2005, Sisto played Billy Chenowith on the acclaimed HBO drama *Six Feet Under*. In 2008, he joined the long-running NBC police procedural *Law & Order*, appearing as Det. Cyrus Lupo in seasons 18 through 20. The actor led the ABC sitcom *Suburgatory*, which ran from 2011 to 2014; in the first season, *Clueless* star Alicia Silverstone played his love interest. He currently stars in Dick Wolf’s crime drama series *FBI*, which began airing in 2018.
Sisto wed actress Marisa Ryan in 1993. Though they separated two days later, the couple remained legally married until their divorce in 2002. He had a daughter, Charlie, with girlfriend Addie Lane in 2009; the pair married later that year. In 2012, they welcomed a second child, son Bastian.
Dan Hedaya (Mel Horowitz)

Dan Hedaya runs a tight ship as Cher's litigator dad, one of the “scariest kinds of lawyers."
"The whole experience was beautiful, working with Amy [Heckerling] and working with Alicia [Silverstone], Brittany [Murphy] — may she rest in peace — and Paul [Rudd]," Hedaya told *Today* in July 2020. "It's discovered by each new generation. The movie, for a teenager, is bursting with life...and there's a great spirit about the movie."
Mel Horowitz is one of many supporting parts in Hedaya's career, which includes *Blood Simple *(1984), *The Addams Family* (1991), *The Usual Suspects* (1995), *The First Wives Club* (1996), *A Night at the Roxbury* (1998), *Dick* (1999), and *The Crew* (2000).
Hedaya is also remembered as playing Carla Tortelli's ex-husband on the NBC sitcom *Cheers*, a role he began in 1984. The character later had a short-lived spinoff, *The Tortellis*, in 1987.
Wallace Shawn (Mr. Hall)
:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/wallace-shawn-clueless-watn-30-years-070225-f695aea884d14aaca7f22b115a329667.jpg)

Wallace Shawn is easily lovable as Mr. Hall, the well-meaning teacher whose grading softens after Cher pairs him with Miss Geist (Twink Caplan). Reflecting on the film years later, Shawn sees the film as something genuinely warm-hearted.
"The *Clueless* fans, of course, they tend to be rather smart and people of good will," he told *Today* in July 2020. "I meet people all the time who love that movie, probably because it's a world where people are very fond of each other and the paranoia and hatred of the real world is left far behind."
Shawn and André Gregory wrote and starred in the unusual 1981 comedy-drama *My Dinner With Andre*, which consists of a single conversation over dinner. He is also well-known for playing Vizzini in *The Princess Bride* (1987) and voicing the dinosaur Rex in the *Toy Story* franchise since 1995. In addition to *Clueless *director Amy Heckerling’s comedy *Vamps*, he’s also landed gigs in *The Incredibles *(2004) and *Marriage Story* (2019).
As for television, Shawn appeared in season 1 of the *Clueless* sitcom in 1996 and had recurring parts on *The Cosby Show, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The L Word, Gossip Girl*, and *Young Sheldon**.*
Shawn is also a playwright and his new play, *What We Did Before Our Moth Days*, is running Off Broadway during the spring of 2026.
Shawn lives with his partner, writer and professor Deborah Eisenberg.

Twink Caplan plays Miss Geist, the frazzled teacher whose runny stockings and smudged lipstick are "screaming for a makeover" from Cher and Dionne.
"Kudos to Amy Heckerling because this movie that she wrote and directed was so amazing and put every one of us actors in the stratosphere because of it, and she's so loved," she told *Today* in July 2020. "The one amazing thing about *Clueless* is you can watch it over and over and over, and the lines still resonate — and the jokes — and it's still relevant today."
Caplan played Kirstie Alley's character's best friend in Amy Heckerling's 1989 blockbuster *Look Who's Talking* and returned for the 1990 sequel. Following her success as an actor and associate producer in *Clueless,* she reprised Miss Geist in season 1 of the spinoff sitcom, for which she also served as an executive producer.
Caplan produced the films *Loser* (2000) and *I Could Never Be Your Woman* (2007). She's also appeared in episodes of *Frasier*, *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation*, *Community*,* *and *Bad Teacher.*
